Plastics: waste or raw materials?

Introduction:

We live in the age of plastic ruling the environment. Needless to say, it is incredibly useful in our modern world. Plastic has become a part of our lifestyle from the moment we wake up till the moment we go to bed.

Plastic is everywhere, starting from our household items and surroundings. Along with that, we all know that most plastics end up in landfills and water bodies. It also impacts humans, plants, and the overall ecosystem.

With that being said, you might think that recycling plastics can help the environment. Let’s take a look at it!

Is Recycling plastic an option?

With the increased awareness around sustainable products and a sustainable environment, businesses focus on recycling the plastic we regularly use to avoid littering the land. One thing to consider before recycling is that not all plastics can be recycled.

Plastics that are recycled are not fully recycled. Instead, they are downcycled. Of all the plastics used in our ecosystem, only a few plastic grades can be recycled. One important thing to consider here is that the recycled plastic will be a low-grade plastic that cannot be recycled again. In short, these plastics are recycled for products that are of lesser value.

Although recycling seems a great option, it does not benefit the environment in the long run because the number of times plastic can be recycled is minimal.

Let’s dive deeper!

According to global research , only 9% of the global plastics are recycled and they are converted into products such as bin bags, bottles, drinking straw or low quality household items. This clearly shows that the rest of the plastics that are used are just dumped in landfills and oceans.

Although plastics are harmful to our ecosystem in multiple ways, we can make better choices by converting plastic into raw materials instead of recycling and sending it to the environment again. To make our lives better with a clean and a healthy environment, it is high time to consider making healthy alternatives or healthy choices out of plastics. One such option is plastic biofuel which is healthy, sustainable and eco-friendly.

We are Buyofuel, India’s favorite green fuel marketplace. You can find eco-friendly, sustainable fuel options here to buy, and sell if you’re into manufacturing. We at Buyofuel care for our mother nature and thus created a marketplace for sustainable biofuel options.
